Problems where being right matters to someone outside this group. We scope them narrowly, measure honestly, and publish what didn't work alongside what did.
Curiosity
No justification
Questions that don't need a business case. Most go nowhere. The ones that don't tend to be the reason the serious work gets better.
Craft
Learning in public
Building things we already understand in theory, so we understand them in practice. Written down as we go, mistakes included.
